Abstract: The article presents the methodology and results of experimental studies of friction coefficients that characterize the processing of chipboard tail cutters, knives equipped with vacuum-plasma coatings. The developed technique for determining the coefficient of friction of the back of the blade and the adjacent part of the cutting edge in milling based on the simultaneous registration of the tangential and normal cutting forces on the back of the blade during the cutting process with zero height allowance being taken. The research results have allowed to perform scientific basis of tribological characteristics of vacuum-plasma coatings deposited on the cutting elements, optimization of coating parameters.</description>

Abstract: In the article results over of experimental research of levels of voice pressure (air noise) are brought in a process to treatment of wood of different breeds, and also arboreal materials by the end milling cutters of two different constructions: with continuous and irregular canals taking of shaving from the area of cutting. Experiments realized at the facility, established on the basis of the machining center CNC ROVER B 4.35 (BIESSE, Italy). Continuous drainage channel chip is exposed to high sound pressure levels, both at idle and during cutting. The largest air noise occurs during the cutting of oak (95.3 dBA), and the smallest – MDF (80.9 dBA).</description>

Abstract: Article contains results of researches on establishment of interrelation of geometrical parameter on chipper canter machines and technological chips and double blades knives when processing logs on milling of chipper canter machine. The analysis of graphic dependences of length of a slanted part technological chips, corner of a cut of an end face technological chips from size of shift of an axis of a log in relation to an axis of rotation of mills is presented. Expediency of equipment milling of chipper canter machines is confirmed with mechanisms of a vertical centering of logs.</description>
